Video Games

History of Video Games

Video games have been around since the early 1970s. the first arcade game was the Computer Space by Nutting Associates, and it was introduced in 1971. In 1972 however, Atari introduced Pong to the arcades. An interesting fact about Atari is its creator, Nolan Bushnell, as he was the one who developed Computer Space. Pong, was the first arcade game that had genuinely been successful.

The first ever home video game was offered by Magnavox called the Odyssey, the game did not contain a microprocessor, instead it had a board with four-dozen transistors and diodes. Atari introduced a home version of Pong, which again had a great success and opened more doors for home video games.

Although that video games have immerged since the early 1970s, in 1940 Edward U. Conan designed a computer that plays the known traditional game: Nim. The computer actually won 90% of those games against the people whom played it.
